"Everyone is a DJ in their own Life. This film is a soundtrack of my past and present to find my identity again. Welcome to the network."
This is a very straightforward blog. It's tribe giving a platform to a film-maker from Canada in this instance - Courtney James who is seeking crowd-funding for a film project - called The Global Groove Network.
So here's a few images, and some words lifted from the Kickstarter crowd-funding page - followed by - most importantly - the links for the page and project itself. We're pleased to (hopefully) lend a helping hand : that sort of sums up the tribe ethos...
" When I started this journey six years ago I didn't realize what I had committed to. I just came out of a nine year relationship and I was at a place in my life where I wanted to express myself in a personal way with the next film project I decided to do. When I finally ended the relationship I was filled with emotion and reflection on where I was with my life. This change was very surreal. "
" One thing that always seemed to comfort me through this time in my life was my music. I've always been someone who has music constantly on and everywhere in my life. Those moments you feel alone can easily be fixed with an i-pod selection or the radio; music had that power for me during those tough times. When I came up with the idea for this movie, I was in the midst of rediscovering some music selections that I hadn't heard in at least 10 years. It took me back to a time when I was in a similar situation of trying to find myself. I was 20 years old, my parents divorced, I was depressed, wasn't focused, and my girlfriend at the time had broken up with me. "
" My identity was unclear to me and I was looking for a place to fit in. I moved to Toronto in the summer of '98 and with nothing but a suitcase and dreams of making it in the movie business, I made this city my new home. This music that I was rediscovering again was House Music. During the late 90s the electronic music scene blew up in Toronto and I was lucky enough to experience it through the friends I made at the time working at a restaurant. These memories inspired me and ultimately have led me down the road of creating this film and the message it represents."
